Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust mask, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep work area clean and free of tripping hazards. Ensure adequate ventilation when cutting.
  3. Tool Inspection: Inspect saw before each use. Check for loose parts, damaged wheels, and proper guard installation.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback forces. Always use proper stance and grip.

WARNING! Never operate without proper guards in place. Keep hands and clothing away from cutting wheel. Do not use for purposes other than cutting.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble according to instructions.

  1. Attach handle: Secure front and rear handles using provided hardware.
  2. Install cutting wheel: Use quick-release spindle to mount approved abrasive cutting wheel.
  3. Adjust guard: Position cutting guard for maximum protection while allowing clear view of cut.
  4. Fuel mixture: Prepare fuel using STIHL 2-stroke oil and fresh unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio).

CAUTION! Use only STIHL-approved cutting wheels and accessories. Ensure all fasteners are tightened securely.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Main controls located on handle assembly. Master Control Lever: Combines stop switch and choke functions.

Controls: Master Control Lever (stop/run/choke), Throttle trigger, Throttle lock, Primer bulb, Decompression valve (if equipped).

Operation: Set Master Control Lever to choke for cold start. Press primer bulb 5-10 times. Pull starter handle. Move lever to run position once engine fires. Use throttle trigger for acceleration. Engage throttle lock for continuous operation. Adjust cutting depth via depth adjustment knob.

Operation

Starting, cutting techniques, and shutdown procedures.

  1. Cold Start: Set Master Control to choke, press primer, pull starter until engine fires, then move to run.
  2. Warm Start: Set Master Control to run, pull starter.
  3. Cutting: Allow engine to reach operating temperature. Approach material at correct angle. Let wheel do the work - avoid excessive pressure.
  4. Shutdown: Release throttle, allow engine to idle briefly, move Master Control to stop.

Tip: Make practice cuts on scrap material to familiarize yourself with tool behavior before important work.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use only fresh unleaded gasoline (min. 89 octane) mixed with STIHL 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio.

  1. Fuel mixture: Pour correct amount of oil into clean container, add gasoline, mix thoroughly.
  2. Filling: Clean area around fuel cap. Fill tank to 80% capacity to allow for expansion.
  3. Lubrication: Gearbox is factory filled. Check level periodically and refill with STIHL gear oil.
  4. Chain lubrication: Not applicable - this is a cut-off saw.

WARNING! Never use fuel older than 30 days. Never use automotive oil or oil intended for 4-stroke engines. Store fuel in approved containers.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
DailyClean air filter, check cutting wheel for damage, inspect guards
WeeklyCheck all fasteners, clean spark arrestor screen, inspect fuel lines
MonthlyCheck gearbox oil level, clean cooling fins, inspect anti-vibration elements
As neededReplace spark plug, replace fuel filter, service carburetor

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Use only STIHL genuine parts.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Fill fuel tank to prevent condensation.
  2. Long-term (over 30 days): Drain fuel tank completely. Run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  3. General: Clean entire saw thoroughly. Store in dry, secure location. Protect from dust and moisture.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and can damage engine components.
