Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  1. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, and dust mask.
  2. Inspect saw before each use: check for loose parts, damaged blade, fuel leaks.
  3. Clear work area of debris, flammable materials, and bystanders.
  4. Ensure blade guard is properly installed and secure.
  5. Use only Stihl-approved cutting blades and accessories.

WARNING! Never operate without proper PPE. Keep hands and feet away from cutting area. Do not use in wet conditions.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble handles and attach cutting blade.

  1. Attach handlebar: Secure with provided bolts and wrench.
  2. Install cutting blade: Remove blade guard, align blade with spindle, secure with flange and nut.
  3. Fuel mixture: Use 50:1 mix of unleaded gasoline and Stihl HP Ultra oil.
  4. Fill fuel tank: Use clean fuel container; avoid spills.
  5. Check throttle operation: Ensure trigger moves freely and lockout functions.

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tightened to specification. Use correct fuel mixture to prevent engine damage.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on handle assembly. Front Panel: Throttle trigger, throttle lock, stop switch, choke lever.

Handle Assembly: Throttle trigger with lockout, stop switch, choke lever, fuel primer bulb.

Blade Guard: Quick-release mechanism, spark arrestor. Anti-Vibration: Rubber dampeners in front and rear handles. Ignition: Electronic module with spark plug. Fuel System: Tank with cap, filter, and fuel lines.

Starting & Operation

Starting procedure for cold and warm engine.

  1. Place saw on firm, level surface.
  2. Engage chain brake (if equipped).
  3. Set choke lever to cold start position (closed).
  4. Press fuel primer bulb 5-10 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires.
  6. Move choke lever to open position.
  7. Pull starter rope again to start engine.
  8. Allow engine to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.

Tip: Do not pull starter rope to full extension. Avoid flooding engine with excessive priming.

Cutting Techniques

Proper cutting techniques for different materials.

  1. Concrete/Asphalt: Use diamond blade with continuous rim. Apply steady pressure, avoid forcing.
  2. Metal: Use abrasive cutting disc. Keep blade perpendicular to work surface.
  3. Stone: Use segmented diamond blade. Use water attachment if available to reduce dust.
  4. Always cut at full throttle for optimal blade life and cutting performance.
  5. Make relief cuts for large sections to prevent blade binding.
  6. Allow blade to reach full speed before contacting material.
  7. Use both hands on handles; maintain firm grip.
  8. Keep cutting line clear of debris during operation.

WARNING! Never cut with upper part of blade (kickback zone). Always cut below centerline of blade. Watch for rebound when cutting through materials.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Clean air filter, check blade for damage, inspect fuel lines.
  2. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor, check anti-vibration elements, tighten all fasteners.
  3. Monthly: Clean cooling fins, check fuel filter, inspect ignition system.
  4. Seasonal: Replace spark plug, clean carburetor, check piston and cylinder.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before maintenance. Use only Stihl genuine parts. Clean saw after each use to prevent buildup.

Storage

Proper storage procedures for short and long term.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Empty fuel tank, run engine until it stops.
  2. Long-term (over 30 days): Drain fuel completely, remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to distribute oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
  5. Hang saw or store upright to prevent fuel/oil leaks.

Important: Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and can damage carburetor.
