Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust mask, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area: Keep area clean, dry, and free of tripping hazards. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  3. Machine Inspection: Check machine for damage before each use. Ensure all guards are in place.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area, engine off and cool. Use STIHL MotoMix or proper fuel/oil mix.
  5. Starting & Operation: Hold machine firmly with both hands. Keep bystanders at a safe distance.

WARNING! Never operate without proper guards. Do not use in explosive atmospheres. Risk of serious injury or death from kickback, blade rupture, or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble handle and attach cutting disc.

  1. Handle Assembly: Attach side handle to mount using provided bolts and wrench. Tighten securely.
  2. Cutting Disc Installation: Engage spindle lock. Mount disc with correct side facing out. Secure with flange nut using wrench.
  3. Water Connection: Attach water hose to connection port. Ensure valve is closed before connecting.
  4. Fuel Mix: Use STIHL two-stroke engine oil at 50:1 ratio with unleaded gasoline (min. 89 octane).
  5. Pre-Start Check: Verify throttle trigger moves freely, stop switch functions, and all fasteners are tight.

CAUTION! Ensure machine is on stable ground during assembly. Use only STIHL-approved cutting discs and accessories.

Controls and Functions

Main Controls: Throttle Trigger, Stop Switch, Choke Lever, Primer Bulb, Throttle Lock, Spindle Lock.

Handle Area: Throttle trigger with lockout, stop switch (I/O), choke lever (start position), primer bulb. Rear: Fuel tank cap, oil tank cap (if equipped with automatic chain oiler). Front: Spindle with lock, blade guard, water connection.

Operation: Use choke for cold start. Throttle lock engages for continuous operation. Stop switch cuts ignition.

Operation

Starting, cutting, and stopping procedures.

  1. Cold Start: Set stop switch to "I". Press fuel primer bulb 5x. Move choke lever to closed position. Pull starter rope sharply until engine fires. Move choke to open position. Pull starter rope to start.
  2. Warm Start: Choke open. Pull starter rope.
  3. Cutting: Allow engine to warm up. Align cutting disc with mark. Apply steady pressure; let disc do the work. Use water for dust control.
  4. Stopping: Release throttle. Press stop switch to "O".

Tip: Never force the cut. Avoid twisting the blade in the cut. Always cut at full throttle.

Cutting Disc Installation

Proper mounting is critical for safety and performance.

  1. Engage spindle lock by pushing button/lever.
  2. Place disc on spindle with arrow on disc matching rotation direction (marked on guard).
  3. Install outer flange and tighten nut with wrench (clockwise to tighten).
  4. Disengage spindle lock.
  5. Check disc runs true and does not contact guard.

WARNING! Always use undamaged discs rated for at least 9500 rpm. Ensure guard is properly positioned. Never use a cutting disc as a grinding wheel.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and safety.

IntervalTask
DailyClean air filter, check disc for damage, inspect guards, clean exterior
