Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a flat, stable surface.

  1. Attach Handlebar: Secure to main unit with provided bolts and wrench.
  2. Install Tines: Slide tine shafts into holders; secure with locking pins or bolts.
  3. Mount Transport Wheels: Attach wheels to axle; secure with clips or nuts.
  4. Attach Safety Guard: Position over tines; fasten with screws.
  5. Add Fluids: For 4-stroke models, add engine oil to correct level. For all models, add mixed fuel (2-stroke) or pure gasoline (4-stroke) as specified.

WARNING! Do not attempt assembly without proper tools. Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation.

Controls & Operation

Starting the Engine: Place on level ground. Set choke, press primer bulb (if equipped), pull starter cord firmly.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Ensure area is clear, depth regulator set, clutch disengaged.
  2. Starting: Set throttle to idle, pull starter until engine fires. Move choke to run position.
  3. Engaging Tines: With engine at operating speed, squeeze clutch lever to engage tines.
  4. Adjusting Depth: Use depth lever to raise/lower tines. Start shallow, then increase depth.
  5. Stopping: Release clutch, move throttle to idle, press kill switch.

CAUTION! Keep hands and feet away from tines at all times. Always operate from behind handlebar.

Tilling Guidelines

For best results, follow these steps:

  1. Clear Area: Remove rocks, large roots, and debris.
  2. Moisture Check: Soil should be slightly moist, not wet or bone dry.
  3. First Pass: Set shallow depth; till in straight, overlapping rows.
  4. Second Pass: Increase depth; till perpendicular to first pass for thorough mixing.
  5. Adding Amendments: Spread compost or fertilizer before second pass.
  6. Finishing: Use rake attachment (if available) to level soil.

Tip: Avoid tilling too deeply in compacted soil; make multiple shallow passes instead.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures long life and optimal performance.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck fasteners, tire pressure, fuel level, tine condition
Every 25 hoursClean air filter; check spark plug
Every 50 hoursChange engine oil (4-stroke); grease tine shafts
Every 100 hoursReplace spark plug; inspect clutch mechanism
Season endFull cleaning; fuel system preparation for storage

Engine Care (Fuel & Oil)

2-Stroke Engine: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (min 89 octane) mixed with STIHL HP Ultra oil at 50:1 ratio. Shake well before filling.

4-Stroke Engine: Use pure unleaded gasoline. Check oil level before each use; change oil per schedule.

Storage: For storage over 30 days, either drain fuel system or add fuel stabilizer.

WARNING! Fuel is highly flammable. Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. No smoking.

Storage Instructions

  1. Clean thoroughly: Remove dirt, debris from tines, engine, and housing.
  2. Fuel: Either drain tank and run dry, or add stabilizer and run for 5 minutes.
  3. Engine: For 4-stroke, change oil. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of oil, pull starter slowly to coat cylinder.
  4. Store: In dry, covered area. Fold handlebar if possible. Cover unit.
