Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, especially children, are within 10 meters.
  3. Inspect Saw: Check for loose parts, chain tension, and sharpness before each use.
  4. Carry Safely: Transport with chain brake engaged and guide bar covered.
  5. Kickback Awareness: Hold firmly with both hands; do not cut with tip of bar.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury. Always grip rear handle with right hand and front handle with left hand.

Assembly & Preparation

Assemble guide bar and chain, fill fluids, and tension chain.

  1. Mount Guide Bar: Place bar on studs, align chain groove with drive links.
  2. Install Chain: Fit chain over bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top.

  4. Add Fuel: Use fresh STIHL MotoMix or 50:1 gasoline/oil mixture.
  5. Add Bar & Chain Oil: Fill reservoir with STIHL chain oil or equivalent.

Controls and Components

Master Control Lever: Combines stop switch, choke, and run positions. Throttle Trigger: Right-hand operated with lockout. Chain Brake: Front hand guard; activate manually or by inertia. Decompression Valve: Eases starting. Chain Tensioner: Side knob for adjustment.

Labels: Follow all warning labels on housing and bar.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Engage chain brake. Set Master Control to choke. Press decompression valve. Pull starter rope until engine fires. Move lever to run. Pull again to start. Warm Start: Set lever to run; pull starter.

  1. Place saw on firm ground.
  2. Hold front handle with left hand, place right foot in rear handle.
  3. Pull starter briskly; avoid pulling rope to full length.
  4. After starting, disengage chain brake before cutting.

Tip: Never drop-start or start above waist height.

Cutting Techniques

Use for pruning, limbing, and small-diameter cuts.

  1. Bracing: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart; keep balance.
  2. Plunge Cut: Not recommended for mini saws; use only with training.
  3. Limbing: Cut branches from underside to avoid pinching.
  4. Top Handle Use: Designed for one-handed operation only by trained professionals.
  5. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of bar tip.

WARNING! Do not cut with tip. Always plan escape path from falling limbs.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension, inspect bar for wear. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor, check fuel filter. Monthly: Replace spark plug, clean cooling fins.

Lubrication: Chain oiler adjustable via screw near bar mount.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file matching chain pitch (e.g., 4.0 mm). File at 30° angle, maintaining cutter length equality. Depth gauges must be filed with gauge tool.

CAUTION! Wear gloves. Secure bar in vise. File in one direction only.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term: Drain fuel tank and run engine dry. Remove chain, clean and oil. Store in dry place, covered.

CAUTION! Fuel left in tank can degrade and damage carburetor.
