Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting.

Handle Controls (Left to Right): Throttle trigger, Cruise control lock, Clutch lever (engages brush), Drive speed selector, Height adjustment knob, Parking brake lever, Stop switch.

Starting Procedure: 1. Place sweeper on level ground. Engage parking brake. 2. Move stop switch to "I" (On) position. 3. Set choke to cold start position if engine is cold. 4. Pull starter cord briskly until engine fires. Move choke to run position. 5. Allow engine to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.

Operating: Release parking brake. Squeeze throttle to desired speed. Engage clutch lever to start brush rotation. Adjust brush height for surface.

Sweeping Functions

Optimize sweeping for different debris and surfaces.

  1. Basic Sweeping: Keep a steady walking pace. Overlap passes slightly for complete coverage.
  2. Heavy Debris: Reduce forward speed. Increase brush contact pressure slightly.
  3. Fine Dust/Dirt: Use higher brush speed. Ensure collection bag is not overfull.
  4. Edge Cleaning (with side brush): Position sweeper so side brush extends over curb or edge. The side brush will sweep debris into the path of the main brush.
  5. Emptying Bag: Stop engine. Release bag straps. Lift bag away and empty into disposal container. Avoid shaking to minimize dust.

Tip: Sweep in a systematic pattern (e.g., rows) for large areas to ensure efficiency.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures long life and optimal performance.

IntervalTask
DailyCheck fuel level. Inspect brushes for wear/damage. Empty and clean collection bag. Clean air intake grill.
Every 25 hoursCheck and clean spark plug. Inspect fuel filter. Check all nuts and bolts for tightness.
Every 50 hoursClean or replace air filter. Check drive belt tension and condition. Lubricate height adjustment mechanism.
Every 100 hoursReplace spark plug. Check clutch lining for wear. Clean cooling fins.
Seasonal/AnnualDrain fuel system for long-term storage. Have authorized dealer check carburetor and engine compression.

WARNING! Use only genuine STIHL replacement parts. Incorrect parts can cause damage or unsafe operation.

Cleaning & Storage

Allow engine to cool completely before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe down with a damp cloth. Do not use high-pressure water.
  2. Undercarriage/Brushes: Remove debris wrapped around brush axles. Use a brush or putty knife.
  3. Air Filter: Tap gently to remove dust. Wash in warm soapy water if very dirty (let dry completely).
  4. Storage: Store in a dry, locked place. For storage over 30 days: Run engine until fuel tank is empty. Remove spark plug and add a teaspoon of engine oil into the cylinder, then pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil. Reinstall spark plug.

CAUTION! Never store the machine with fuel in the tank in an enclosed area. Fuel vapors are explosive.
