Safety Instructions

Assembly & Preparation

Assemble pole pruner before first use.

  1. Attach cutting attachment: Align bar with drive socket and secure with nuts.
  2. Install chain: Place chain on bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward.
  3. Adjust shaft length: Loosen clamp, extend to desired length, retighten securely.
  4. Fuel mix: Use 50:1 gasoline to STIHL 2-stroke oil. Fill fuel tank.
  5. Chain oil: Fill oil reservoir with STIHL chain oil or equivalent.

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tightened securely before operation.

Operation: Press throttle lockout while squeezing throttle trigger to accelerate. Use stop switch to shut off engine. Choke for cold starts.

Operation Instructions

Starting and using the pole pruner.

  1. Starting Cold Engine: Set stop switch to "I", move choke lever to closed, press primer 5 times, pull starter cord until engine fires, move choke to open, pull again to start.
  2. Starting Warm Engine: Choke open, pull starter cord.
  3. Cutting Technique: Hold unit firmly, let chain reach full speed before cutting, use tip of bar for pruning, avoid pushing or forcing.
  4. Shutting Down: Release throttle, allow engine to idle, press stop switch to "0".

Tip: Allow engine to warm up for 30 seconds before cutting.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Air Filter: Clean weekly; replace if damaged.
  2. Spark Plug: Check gap (0.5 mm); replace annually.
  3. Fuel Filter: Replace every 3 months or as needed.
  4. Exhaust Port & Screen: Clean carbon deposits regularly.
  5. External Cleaning: Wipe with damp cloth; avoid water ingress.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper chain maintenance is critical for safety and performance.

  1. Chain Tension: Adjust when cold; chain should snap back when pulled from bar.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file (4.0 mm) at 30° angle; maintain depth gauges.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove weekly; flip bar monthly for even wear.
  4. Oiling: Check oil flow before each use; adjust oiler screw if needed.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain.

Storage Guidelines

Store properly to prevent damage and fuel issues.

  1. Short-term: Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel completely, run engine until it stops, remove spark plug and add 1 tsp oil, pull starter slowly to distribute.
  3. Clean unit thoroughly before storage.
  4. Store in dry, secure location away from children.
