Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach the shaft: Connect the upper and lower shaft sections securely, ensuring locking mechanisms engage.
  2. Install the cutting attachment: Mount the guide bar and chain onto the drive socket, ensuring proper tension.
  3. Add fuel mixture: Fill the fuel tank with the correct gasoline and 2-stroke oil mixture (50:1 ratio).
  4. Add bar and chain oil: Fill the separate oil reservoir for chain lubrication.

WARNING! Always wear protective gear (gloves, goggles, helmet, ear protection) during assembly and operation. Ensure all fasteners are tight.

First-Time Operation

Before starting, perform a safety check of all components.

  1. Starting the engine: Set the master control lever to cold start position, pull the starter rope until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
  2. Warm-up: Allow the engine to idle for a few minutes before applying full throttle.
  3. Adjusting reach: Extend or retract the shaft to the desired length and lock it in place.
  4. Test cutting: Engage the throttle trigger and practice cutting on small branches to familiarize yourself with the tool's handling.

CAUTION! Keep bystanders at a safe distance. Never operate the pole pruner above shoulder height without proper training.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Master Control Lever: For starting (cold/hot), run, and stop positions. Throttle Trigger: With lockout to prevent accidental operation. Decompression Valve: Reduces compression for easier starting. Chain Brake: Manual engagement to stop the chain. Shaft Lock: Secures the shaft at the desired length.

Operation: Use the master control lever to select the appropriate starting mode. Hold the handle firmly, engage the throttle lockout, then squeeze the throttle trigger to increase engine speed for cutting.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89. Mix with a high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at a 50:1 ratio. Use Stihl brand bar and chain oil for optimal lubrication.

  1. Always mix fuel in a clean, approved container.
  2. Fill the fuel tank before operation.
  3. Check the bar and chain oil level regularly and refill as needed.
  4. Never use old or stale fuel mixture.

Tip: Store fuel mixture in a cool, dry place and use within 30 days.

Cutting Techniques

Designed for trimming branches and pruning trees.

  1. Positioning: Stand firmly with feet shoulder-width apart. Hold the pole pruner with both hands.
  2. Approach: Position the cutting attachment against the branch to be cut.
  3. Cutting: Apply steady pressure and allow the chain to do the work. Avoid forcing the cut.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of the kickback zone (upper quadrant of the guide bar tip). Never cut with this part of the bar.
  5. Branch Removal: Cut smaller branches first when removing larger limbs.

WARNING! Always be aware of your surroundings, including power lines, people, and property. Do not cut above shoulder height without proper support.

Safety Features

Chain Brake: Stops the chain in milliseconds if activated manually or by inertia in case of kickback. Throttle Trigger Lockout: Prevents accidental throttle engagement. Right-Hand Guard: Protects the operator's hand. Anti-Vibration System: Reduces fatigue and improves control.

Maintenance & Storage

Clean the air filter regularly. Check and tighten all nuts and bolts before each use. Sharpen the chain as needed. Clean the guide bar groove. For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor.

CAUTION! Always disconnect the spark plug boot before performing any maintenance. Store the pole pruner in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
