Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before operation.

Main Controls: Throttle Trigger (with lockout), Stop Switch, Choke Lever, Primer Bulb, Fuel Valve, and Handle Controls.

Components: Engine, Fuel Tank, Air Filter, Spark Plug, Muffler, Cutting Blades, Blade Guard, and Anti-Vibration mounts. Always ensure controls are functioning properly before starting.

Starting & Stopping

Follow these steps for safe starting and stopping.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Ensure area is clear, fuel is mixed correctly, and all parts are secure.
  2. Starting Procedure: Set choke, press primer bulb 5-10 times, engage throttle lockout, pull starter cord firmly until engine fires.
  3. Warm-Up: Allow engine to run at idle for 30-60 seconds before applying full throttle.
  4. Stopping: Release throttle, allow engine to idle briefly, then press stop switch.

Tip: If engine does not start after several pulls, check fuel, spark plug, and air filter.

Operating Instructions

Operate with both hands, maintaining secure grip.

  1. Positioning: Stand firmly with feet shoulder-width apart. Hold trimmer with both hands.
  2. Cutting Technique: Use smooth, sweeping motions. Do not force blades through thick material.
  3. Height Adjustment: Adjust cutting height by tilting trimmer; avoid overhead cutting.
  4. Pacing: Take breaks to prevent fatigue. Listen to engine sound for optimal performance.
  5. Blade Care: Periodically clean blades of sap and debris during use.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height. Keep cutting blades away from body and obstacles.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and safety.

Daily: Clean air filter, check for loose fasteners, inspect blades for damage. Weekly: Sharpen blades as needed, check spark plug, clean cooling fins. Monthly: Replace fuel filter, inspect anti-vibration mounts, lubricate moving parts.

CAUTION! Always stop engine and allow to cool before maintenance. Use only Stihl-approved parts and lubricants.

Storage

Prepare trimmer for storage to prevent damage.

  1. Fuel System: Drain fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer. Run engine to distribute stabilized fuel.
  2. Cleaning: Thoroughly clean entire unit, especially cutting blades and cooling fins.
  3. Blade Protection: Apply light oil to blades and install blade guard.
  4. Storage Location: Store in dry, cool place, away from children and ignition sources.
