Maintenance Schedule

Access OSD via TV MENU or SETUP (DVD). Front Panel: POWER, OPEN/CLOSE, AUTO/DPMS, MUTE.

Daily/Before Use: Check for loose fasteners, inspect cutting attachment, check fuel for contamination.

Every 50 Hours: Clean air filter, check spark plug, inspect fuel filter, clean cooling fins.

Every 100 Hours: Clean spark arrestor screen (if equipped), check drive shaft lubrication, inspect anti-vibration elements.

Annually/Seasonally: Replace fuel filter, clean carburetor (if needed), inspect/replace starter rope, check clutch and drum.

Engine Service

Cylinder & Piston: Inspect for scoring. Measure compression (min. 110 psi).

  1. Remove muffler and spark plug.
  2. Inspect cylinder through exhaust port.
  3. Use piston stop to hold crankshaft when removing flywheel nut.
  4. Check crankshaft seals for leaks (vacuum/pressure test).

Ignition: Check spark plug gap (0.5 mm / 0.020"). Test ignition coil with multimeter (primary 0.2-0.3 Ω, secondary 8-10 kΩ).

Decompression Valve: Test by blowing through valve; should seal when closed.

Fuel System

Carburetor (Zama C1Q): Adjustments: L (low speed), H (high speed), LA (idle). Initial settings: L = 1 turn open, H = 1 turn open.

  1. Clean fuel tank, replace filter.
  2. Inspect fuel lines for cracks; replace if hardened.
  3. Diaphragm kit replacement if engine runs lean or floods.
  4. Pressure/vacuum test fuel system to check for leaks.

Tip: Use only fresh, properly mixed fuel (50:1). Stale fuel is a common cause of starting and running issues.

Cutting Attachment & Drive Shaft

Supports Polycut head, circular blades, and grass blades.

  1. Drive Shaft Removal: Detach gearhead, remove circlip, slide shaft out of tube.
  2. Lubrication: Pack shaft splines with high-temperature grease during reassembly.
  3. Cutting Head: To replace line, press tabs and remove spool. Wind line in direction of arrow.
  4. Blade Installation: Use correct blade washer and nut. Tighten to specified torque (35-40 Nm).
  5. Clutch: Inspect shoes for wear. Replace if worn below service limit.
  6. Gearhead: Check for worn gears or bearings. Grease with STIHL grease.

WARNING! Always ensure cutting attachment is properly secured and guard is in place before operation.
