Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach handlebar: Slide onto shaft, align for comfort, tighten clamp screws.
  2. Install cutting attachment: Ensure engine is off. Fit C 5-2 head or other approved attachment, secure with retaining nut.
  3. Fill fuel: Use STIHL MotoMix® (50:1 premix) or mix STIHL 2-stroke oil with unleaded gasoline (50:1).
  4. Check all fasteners: Ensure all screws, nuts, and clamps are tight.

WARNING! Always wear protective equipment: safety glasses, gloves, long pants, sturdy boots, and hearing protection.

First-Time Operation

Before starting, read safety instructions. Ensure clear work area.

  1. Starting: Place unit on ground, hold securely. Set stop switch to RUN. Press fuel primer bulb 5 times. Set choke lever to cold start position. Pull starter rope smoothly until engine fires. Move choke to run position, pull again to start.
  2. Warm-up: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before applying throttle.
  3. Adjust handle: Loosen clamp, position for comfortable operation, retighten.
  4. Line advance: Tap cutting head on ground while engine is at high idle to advance trimmer line.

CAUTION! Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away during operation.

Controls and Settings

Main controls located on handle and engine housing.

Handle: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch (OFF/RUN). Engine: Choke lever (cold start/run), fuel primer bulb, starter grip. Adjustments: Handlebar height and angle, auxiliary handle rotation.

Operation: Squeeze throttle trigger lockout and throttle trigger to increase engine speed. Release to idle. Use stop switch to stop engine.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use only high-quality unleaded gasoline (min. 89 octane) mixed with STIHL 2-stroke engine oil at 50:1 ratio. STIHL MotoMix® recommended for convenience and engine protection.

  1. Mix fuel in approved container: Add oil to gasoline, shake well.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Clean area around cap, fill to marked level.
  3. Lubrication: Gearbox is lubricated at factory. Check periodically for leaks.
  4. After use: Run carburetor dry or add fuel stabilizer for storage.

Tip: Never use fuel older than 30 days. Store fuel in approved container away from heat/sparks.

Cutting Attachments

Compatible with STIHL C 5-2 tapeless line head, circular grass blades, and polycut heads.

  1. Line head (C 5-2): Load with STIHL trimmer line (2.0 mm diameter). Tap on ground to advance line.
  2. Blade installation: Ensure engine is off. Use appropriate blade, mounting hardware, and guard.
  3. Inspection: Check cutting attachment for damage before each use.
  4. Replacement: Follow instructions in manual for replacing line or blades.

WARNING! Always use STIHL-approved cutting attachments and guards. Ensure cutting attachment is securely fastened.

Safety Features

Throttle trigger lockout: Prevents accidental throttle engagement. Debris-deflecting clutch cover: Protects operator from thrown objects. Stop switch: Immediate engine shut-off. Vibration damping: Reduced vibration in handles.

Care & Storage

Clean unit after each use. Check for loose parts. Store in dry, secure location.

  1. Cleaning: Wipe exterior with damp cloth. Remove debris from cooling fins, air filter, and clutch area.
  2. Air filter: Remove, clean with soapy water, dry, reinstall.
  3. Spark plug: Check gap (0.5 mm), clean or replace as needed.
  4. Storage: For long-term storage, run carburetor dry or add stabilizer. Store in upright position.

CAUTION! Never use pressure washer or solvents. Disconnect spark plug boot before servicing.
