Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Wear proper PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, long pants, and sturdy boots.

  1. Clear work area of bystanders, especially children and pets.
  2. Inspect machine before each use: check for loose parts, damage, and fuel leaks.
  3. Never operate with damaged or missing safety devices (e.g., deflector, handle guard).
  4. Keep hands and feet away from cutting attachment at all times.
  5. Shut off engine before adjusting, cleaning, or transporting.

WARNING! Risk of severe injury or death from blade contact or thrown objects. Always use the shoulder harness and hold the unit firmly with both hands.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach handle: Align handle halves on drive tube, secure with provided bolts.
  2. Install cutting attachment: Ensure drive shaft is clean, attach chosen head or blade, and secure with retaining nut using appropriate wrench.
  3. Attach shoulder harness: Connect harness D-rings to attachment points on the unit.
  4. Fuel mix: Use Stihl MotoMix pre-mixed fuel or mix high-quality 2-stroke oil with unleaded gasoline at a 50:1 ratio (2% oil).

Controls and Operation

Handle Controls: Throttle trigger, throttle latch, stop switch (I/O).

Starting Procedure:

  1. Place unit on clear, flat ground.
  2. Set stop switch to "I" (On).
  3. Press primer bulb 5-10 times until fuel is visible.
  4. Set choke lever to cold start position (if engine is cold).
  5. Pull starter rope slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
  6. After engine fires, move choke lever to run position.
  7. Allow engine to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.

Operation: Use shoulder harness. Maintain firm grip. Swing unit in a controlled arc from right to left. Do not raise cutting attachment above waist level.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89. Mix with Stihl 2-stroke engine oil (or equivalent JASO FD/ISO-L-EGD rated) at 50:1.

  1. Never use fuel older than 60 days. Stale fuel causes starting and performance issues.
  2. Lubricate drive shaft splines with Stihl grease when changing attachments.
  3. Check gearbox grease level periodically (every 25 hours of operation).

Tip: Store fuel in an approved, sealed container away from heat and sparks.

Cutting Attachments

Supports various attachments for different vegetation.

  1. Trimmer Line Head (PolyCut): For grass and light weeds. Install correct line diameter (2.4mm recommended).
  2. Circular Metal Blades: For thick weeds, brush, and small saplings. Ensure blade is sharp and balanced.
  3. Brush Knives: For heavy brush and woody vegetation.
  4. Attachment Change: Shut off engine. Use wrench to loosen retaining nut. Clean shaft splines, apply grease, install new attachment, and tighten securely.

WARNING! Always ensure cutting attachment is properly secured and guard/deflector is in place. Never use damaged blades.
