Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and gloves.
  2. Operating Area: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet away. Be aware of debris being blown.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel in a well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use only STIHL MotoMix or 89+ octane gasoline mixed with STIHL HP Ultra oil at 50:1 ratio.
  4. Hot Surfaces: Avoid contact with muffler and cylinder during and immediately after operation.

WARNING! Risk of fire, explosion, burn, and injury. Never operate in an enclosed area or near flammable materials. Do not modify the blower.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack all parts. Assemble with included tools.

  1. Attach Harness: Connect shoulder straps to D-rings on blower frame. Adjust hip belt for snug fit.
  2. Install Blower Tube: Align tube with intake housing and secure with locking collar. Ensure it clicks into place.
  3. Add Fuel: Use clean, approved fuel mix. Fill tank to indicated level, avoiding overfill.
  4. Pre-Start Check: Verify throttle trigger moves freely, stop switch is in RUN position, and all fasteners are tight.

CAUTION! Ensure blower is on a stable surface during assembly. Do not force components.

Controls and Operation

Master Control Lever: Combines stop switch, choke, and run positions. Throttle Trigger: Variable speed control. Throttle Lock: Holds throttle at idle. Cruise Control Lever: Locks throttle at a preset speed. Decompression Valve: Press before starting cold engine.

Starting Procedure: 1. Place blower on clear, level ground. 2. Press decompression valve (cold start). 3. Set Master Control to choke (cold) or run (warm). 4. Press purge bulb 5-6 times. 5. Hold blower firmly, pull starter rope briskly until engine fires. 6. Move Master Control to run. 7. Open throttle briefly to disengage start assist.

Stopping: Release throttle, move Master Control to STOP.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use only high-quality, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89. Mix with STIHL HP Ultra 2-cycle engine oil at a 50:1 ratio. For pre-mixed fuel, use STIHL MotoMix.

  1. Clean area around fuel cap before opening.
  2. Use a clean, approved fuel container.
  3. Shake fuel mix container thoroughly before refueling.
  4. Do not overfill. Allow space for expansion.
  5. Securely tighten fuel cap after refueling.

Tip: Use fuel within 30 days. Do not use fuel containing more than 10% ethanol.

Maintenance Procedures

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity. Perform with engine off and cool.

  1. Daily: Check for loose fasteners, leaks, damage. Clean exterior.
  2. Weekly: Check air filter, clean or replace as needed.
  3. Monthly: Check spark plug, clean and re-gap to 0.020". Check fuel filter and lines.
  4. Seasonally: Clean cooling fins, check impeller for damage, inspect muffler spark arrestor screen.
  5. Annually: Have unit serviced by an authorized STIHL dealer for carburetor adjustment and detailed inspection.

WARNING! Never operate a damaged or improperly maintained blower.

Air Filter & Spark Plug

Air Filter Service: Remove filter cover. Tap pre-cleaned filter on a hard surface to dislodge dust. For heavy dirt, wash in warm, soapy water, rinse, and air dry completely. Do not oil the filter. Reinstall when dry.

Spark Plug: Recommended plug: NGK BPMR7A (gap 0.020"). Remove wire boot. Clean around plug. Use spark plug wrench to remove. Check electrode condition and gap. Replace if worn, fouled, or gap is incorrect.

Storage Guidelines

For storage longer than 30 days, prepare the blower to prevent fuel system issues.

  1. Drain fuel tank completely and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug and pour 1 teaspoon of engine oil into cylinder. Pull starter rope slowly to distribute oil, then reinstall plug.
  3. Clean entire unit thoroughly, especially cooling fins and air filter area.
  4. Store in a clean, dry, secure location, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Storing with fuel in the system can cause gumming and starting failures.
