Specifications

Controls and Operation

Operation is primarily through the Tap 'N Go system and the power tool's throttle.

Starting: Start your Stihl trimmer according to its manual. Allow head to reach full operating speed.

Cutting: Use a sweeping motion from side to side, keeping the head parallel to the ground.

Advancing Line: When line wears short, lightly tap the head on the ground while the tool is running at high speed. This releases a controlled length of fresh line. Avoid excessive force.

Stopping: Release throttle trigger and allow head to stop completely before setting tool down.

Line Loading & Replacement

Reload line when spool is empty or line breaks frequently.

  1. Stop the tool and ensure it is completely off.
  2. Clean any debris from around the head.
  3. Press locking button and rotate cover to open.
  4. Remove old spool and any leftover line.
  5. Wind new line tightly and evenly onto the spool, following directional arrows.
  6. Thread ends through eyelets, reassemble, and pull lines free as in First-Time Setup.

Tip: For best results, use genuine Stihl trimmer line and ensure lines are of equal length after advancing.

Maintenance & Care

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. After Each Use: Clean grass and debris from the head housing and guard.
  2. Weekly (or as needed): Inspect for cracks or damage. Check that the head rotates freely without wobble.
  3. Monthly: Remove the head and clean the drive shaft interface. Apply a light grease to the shaft if recommended by the trimmer manual.
  4. Annually: Consider replacing the entire head if heavily worn or damaged.

WARNING! Never perform maintenance on a hot tool or while it is connected to power. Always disconnect the spark plug or battery.

Safety Features

Locking Button: Prevents accidental opening during operation. Reinforced Housing: Protects internal mechanism from impacts. Guard Compatibility: Must be used with the appropriate Stihl trimmer guard to deflect debris.

Always Operate With: Eye protection, sturdy gloves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Keep bystanders and pets at a safe distance.

Storage

Store the trimmer with the Autocut head in a clean, dry place, out of reach of children.

  1. Clean the head thoroughly before storage.
  2. If storing for an extended period, remove the spool to relieve spring tension.
  3. Store the tool and head in a vertical position or as recommended in the trimmer manual.

CAUTION! Do not store near chemicals, open flame, or in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
