Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure trimmer is turned off and spark plug disconnected.

  1. Remove old cutting head: Hold drive shaft stationary and rotate head counterclockwise.
  2. Clean drive shaft threads: Remove any debris from threads.
  3. Install Autocut 5-2: Thread onto drive shaft clockwise and hand-tighten securely.
  4. Secure with locking mechanism: Engage lock to prevent loosening during operation.
  5. Install guard: Attach transparent guard using provided screws.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug before installation to prevent accidental starting. Wear protective gloves.

First-Time Setup

Operation is simple with automatic line advance feature.

Starting Procedure: Ensure trimmer is on firm ground, start engine according to trimmer manual.

Automatic Advance: While trimming at operating speed, gently tap cutting head on ground to advance fresh line.

Manual Advance: If needed, press bump knob against ground while head is rotating to feed line manually.

Cutting Technique: Use sweeping motion from side to side, keeping cutting head parallel to ground. Avoid forcing head into dense vegetation.

Stopping: Release throttle trigger, allow head to stop completely before setting trimmer down.

Line Replacement

Replace line when less than 2 inches remains or line becomes worn.

  1. Stop trimmer and disconnect spark plug.
  2. Remove spool: Press locking tabs and lift spool from housing.
  3. Remove old line: Discard worn line.
  4. Load new line: Insert ends through eyelets, wind following directional arrows.
  5. Reinstall spool: Align tabs with slots, press until it clicks into place.
  6. Pull line ends: Extend approximately 6 inches of line through eyelets.
  7. Trim line: Cut to even length (5-6 inches recommended).

Tip: Use only Stihl 2.0mm trimmer line for optimal performance and to prevent jamming.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Clean cutting head of grass and debris after use.
  2. Weekly: Inspect for cracks or damage; check line eyelets for wear.
  3. Monthly: Lubricate drive shaft threads with light machine oil.
  4. Seasonally: Replace entire spool if housing shows significant wear.
  5. Storage: Remove spool and clean thoroughly before long-term storage.
