Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Controls: Stop Switch (I/O), Throttle Trigger Lockout, Throttle Trigger, Choke Lever, Primer Bulb, Decompression Valve (if equipped).

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine): 1. Move stop switch to "I" (On). 2. Press the fuel primer bulb 5 times. 3. Set the choke lever to the closed position. 4. Place the trimmer on a firm, flat surface. Hold the rear handle firmly with your left hand and place your right foot in the step area. 5. Pull the starter rope briskly until the engine fires. 6. Move the choke lever to the open position. 7. Pull the starter rope again to start the engine. Allow to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.

Stopping: Release the throttle trigger and press the stop switch to "O".

Fuel & Lubrication

Proper fuel mixture and blade lubrication are critical for performance and longevity.

  1. Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 (RON).
  2. Mix with a high-quality 2-stroke engine oil meeting ISO-L-EGD or JASO FD standards at a 50:1 ratio.
  3. Do not use fuel older than 30 days. Use a fuel stabilizer for long-term storage.
  4. Check the blade lubrication oil level before each use. Use Stihl hedge trimmer oil or equivalent.
  5. The automatic oiler lubricates the blade during operation. Manual oiler button is for additional lubrication.

Tip: Always shake the fuel can before refueling to ensure proper oil mixture.

Cutting Techniques

For best results and safety, follow proper cutting techniques.

  1. Hold the trimmer with both hands, keeping a firm grip on the handles.
  2. Stand in a stable position with feet shoulder-width apart.
  3. Start cutting from the bottom of the hedge and work upwards.
  4. Use a slow, sweeping motion from side to side. Let the blade do the work; do not force it.
  5. For the top of the hedge, hold the blade parallel to the ground and sweep in an arc.
  6. Cut thicker branches (up to the recommended diameter) with the base of the blade near the shear plate.
  7. Avoid cutting above shoulder height to maintain control.

WARNING! Do not use the tip of the blade for cutting. Beware of kickback. Be alert for hidden wires or objects within the hedge.
