Assembly & Preparation

Unpack all components and inspect for damage. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach the pole sections: Extend telescopic shaft to desired length and lock securely.
  2. Install the cutting attachment: Align with drive shaft and secure with provided bolts.
  3. Mount the guide bar and chain: Ensure proper tension and alignment.
  4. Fill fuel tank: Use STIHL 2-stroke engine oil mixed with gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  5. Fill oil tank: Use STIHL chain oil for lubrication.

WARNING! Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and chainsaw chaps.

First-Time Operation

Perform pre-operation checks before starting the engine.

  1. Check chain tension: Chain should be snug but pull freely around the bar.
  2. Check fuel and oil levels: Ensure adequate supply for planned work.
  3. Start the engine: Place on ground, set choke, pull starter cord until engine fires.
  4. Warm up: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before applying throttle.
  5. Test manual oiler: Press oiler button to confirm chain lubrication.

CAUTION! Keep bystanders and pets at least 50 feet away during operation. Never operate above shoulder height.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Main controls located on the rear handle assembly. Throttle Trigger: Engages engine speed. Throttle Trigger Lockout: Must be depressed to allow throttle movement. Stop Switch: Turns engine off. Choke Lever: For cold starting. Manual Oiler Button: Press to lubricate bar and chain. Decompression Valve: Reduces cylinder pressure for easier starting. Chain Brake Lever: Stops chain rotation (manual or inertia-activated).

Adjustments: Chain tension via side-mounted knob. Pole length via locking collar.

Fuel & Lubrication

Use fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane) mixed with STIHL 2-stroke engine oil at 50:1 ratio. For chain lubrication, use STIHL chain oil or equivalent.

  1. Mix fuel in approved container: Add oil to gasoline, shake well.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Use funnel to avoid spills.
  3. Fill oil tank: Use chain oil only.
  4. Operate manual oiler: Press button periodically during cutting.

Tip: Never use old or stale fuel. Always clean fuel cap area before opening.

Cutting Techniques

Designed for pruning branches up to recommended diameter (check manual).

  1. Plan your cut: Identify branch collar and cutting location.
  2. Position yourself: Maintain secure footing, hold pole saw firmly with both hands.
  3. Start cut: Allow chain to reach full speed before contacting wood.
  4. Use gravity: Cut from above when possible; let weight of branch aid separation.
  5. Avoid pinching: For large branches, use undercut then top cut.
  6. Retract carefully: Release throttle, allow chain to stop before moving.

WARNING! Beware of kickback. Do not cut with the tip of the bar. Never operate when fatigued.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, inspect guide bar for wear. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen, check all fasteners for tightness. Monthly: Replace spark plug, clean fuel filter, inspect anti-vibration elements. As Needed: Sharpen or replace chain, replace guide bar if worn.

Storage & Transport

For storage: Empty fuel tank, run engine until it stops to clear carburetor. Clean entire unit, apply oil to guide bar and chain. Store in dry, secure location. For transport: Secure in vehicle to prevent movement. Always transport with chain guard installed.

CAUTION! Fuel is flammable. Store fuel mix in approved container away from heat sources.

Safety Information

Read manual thoroughly before use. Always wear PPE. Keep firm grip, both hands on saw. Be aware of surroundings, especially electrical lines. Do not operate in poor weather (rain, high wind). Never cut above shoulder height. Use proper footing and balance. Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned. Understand kickback zone and how to avoid it.
