Unpack and inspect all contents. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  3. Fuel mix: Use STIHL 2-MIX engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  4. Fill fuel tank: Use clean fuel mix; do not overfill.

WARNING! Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, long pants, and sturdy boots.

First-Time Operation

Before starting, ensure unit is on a flat, clear surface away from people and flammable materials.

  1. Starting procedure: Set stop switch to "I". Press fuel pump bulb 5 times. Set choke lever to cold start position. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires. Move choke lever to run position. Pull starter rope again to start.
  2. Warm-up: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before applying throttle.
  3. Adjust harness: If using a harness, adjust for comfortable fit and balance.
  4. Test controls: Ensure throttle trigger, lockout, and stop switch function properly.

CAUTION! Never start the engine indoors or in poorly ventilated areas due to carbon monoxide risk.

Operation: Throttle trigger controls engine speed. Lockout must be depressed to engage throttle. Stop switch stops engine immediately. Choke lever has three positions: Run, Cold Start, and Half Choke (for warm restart).

Attaching Accessories

  1. Ensure engine is off and spark plug boot is disconnected.
  2. Remove standard cutting head by unscrewing retaining nut (clockwise to loosen, counter-clockwise to tighten - may vary).
  3. Install desired accessory following specific accessory instructions.
  4. Reconnect spark plug boot before starting.

Tip: Always use the correct guard for the accessory being installed.

Operating Procedures

For trimming grass and light vegetation.

  1. Starting: Follow cold or warm start procedure.
  2. Trimming technique: Use a smooth, sweeping motion from side to side, keeping cutting head parallel to ground.
  3. Line advance: Tap cutting head on ground (bump-feed) while at high idle to advance trimmer line.
  4. Shut down: Release throttle and allow engine to idle for 30 seconds. Press stop switch to "O".
  5. Clearing debris: Always shut off engine and disconnect spark plug before clearing debris from cutting head.

WARNING! Never operate unit without proper guard in place. Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away.
