Safety Information

Always read and follow all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Wear protective gear: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Inspect saw before use: Check chain tension, sharpness, and all components.
  3. Clear work area: Remove tripping hazards and ensure stable footing.
  4. Maintain secure grip: Use both hands on handles at all times during operation.
  5. Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety procedures can result in serious injury or death. Keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.

Assembly & First Use

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble according to instructions.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, fit chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill with fuel: Use fresh fuel mix (gasoline and 2-cycle oil at 50:1 ratio).
  3. Fill chain oil: Use proper bar and chain oil in separate reservoir.
  4. Starting procedure: Set master control lever to cold start position, pull starter rope until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
  5. Warm-up: Allow engine to idle for 30-60 seconds before cutting.

CAUTION! Never start saw unless bar and chain are properly assembled and chain brake is disengaged.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Master Control Lever: Combines choke, throttle lock, and stop functions. Front Handle: Contains throttle trigger and throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Contains master control lever and starter grip.

Additional Controls: Chain brake lever, Decompression valve, Chain tensioning screw, Fuel and oil caps, Air filter cover latch.

Operation: Master control positions (Stop-0, Run-I, Cold start-⭘, Warm start-⭘). Chain brake: Push forward to engage (manual), inertial activation during kickback. Throttle lockout: Must be depressed before throttle trigger can be engaged.

Operation Guide

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Starting: Place on firm ground, engage chain brake, set master control to cold start, pull starter rope.
  2. Basic cutting: Use bottom of bar for cutting, let saw do the work without forcing.
  3. Buckling: Support log properly, cut from top down, watch for binding.
  4. Limbing: Stand on opposite side of tree, cut downward branches first.
  5. Felling: Plan escape path, make notch cut, then back cut, retreat along planned path.

Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned. A dull chain requires more force and increases kickback risk.

Chain Maintenance

Regular chain maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use proper round file size (typically 5/32" or 3/16"), maintain correct filing angle (usually 30°).
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust when chain sags from bar.
  3. Lubrication: Check oil flow before each use. Adjust oiler if needed.
  4. Cleaning: Remove sawdust from bar groove and oil holes.
  5. Rotation: Flip bar periodically for even wear.
  6. Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn beyond repair or damaged.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling chain. Disconnect spark plug wire before maintenance.

Engine Maintenance

Regular engine maintenance ensures reliability and longevity.

IntervalMaintenance Task
DailyClean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness
WeeklyClean cooling fins, check spark plug, clean spark arrestor
MonthlyCheck fuel filter, clean carburetor air passage
SeasonallyReplace spark plug, clean fuel tank, inspect anti-vibration elements
AnnuallyProfessional tune-up, compression test

Fuel Mix: Always use fresh fuel (89 octane minimum) mixed with high-quality 2-cycle oil at 50:1 ratio. Do not use fuel older than 30 days.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean and oil it, store separately.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially air intake and cooling fins.
  5. Store in dry, secure location away from children.
  6. For long-term storage, fog engine with preservative oil.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer. Fuel degradation can damage carburetor.
